Doors

Hi West Virginia

As some of you may know, one of the things I have done with a huge part of my life is try to be a writer. While I was never really equipped to make it professionally, I have published a few books and I maintain a presence on the writer’s web site www.writing.com. One of the forums I belong to on my writer’s site is a blog forum. They send me a blog prompt every day and I usually try to respond. Today’s prompt asked about “Closed doors” in our lives. That got me to thinking about how God opens and closes doors for us. I know I can look back on my own life and see how God has guided me, even using my own foolishness to make me into the jewel He wants me to be. When I went to school as a  child I hated most of the subjects. There were a few things though that I literally seemed to absorb. Grammar, spelling, reading, and vocabulary came easily tome. I was once forced to copy entire sections of a dictionary by a teacher. I thought he was being cruel. He had actually done me a great favor by drastically improving my vocabulary. Perhaps he knew I was going to be a writer. At any rate, I can see how God has guided me by opening one door and closing another.

I am certain there are some reading this who are facing the closing of doors. Perhaps a big opportunity you were looking forward to is suddenly falling apart before your eyes. I want to encourage you not to be disheartened or lose faith. God does not close doors without having a good reason for doing so. He sees the whole picture. What looks like a good opportunity to us is not really a good opportunity. It will likely not have a good outcome. God knows that and is preventing us from going down that road. I also know that if God closes a door He will open another one. The door He opens will be much better for us.
