A New Decade for Ministry

A 2020 Message: Remembering the Last Decade of Ministry

Michael Mooney, NACM Exec. Elder

We the National Association of Christian Ministers are super excited about the plans we have to project for 2020 -a new decade of ministry!  Looking back on our early beginnings is simply amazing to see the things our mighty God has done among and through us.  We have overcome great obstacles, and our God continues to show His favor over us.  Here are just a few highlights from the last 10 years:

–> The National Association of Christian Ministers was mentioned in Good Housekeeping Magazine in an interview with Michael Mooney, NACM Exec. Elder as a voice for Christianity in an article on Crisis Control.

–> Asbury Seminary featured Rodger Niemeier, NACM Exec. Elder with a publication of an academic article on the subject of Lone Ranger Spiritual Formation.

–> The New York Times notes NACM minister Aloja Airewele for officiating the wedding for the children of Nigerian dignitaries.  One a Nobel Peace Prize Winner, and the other a Nigerian Ambassador.

–> A Strategic Ministry Alliance was formed with the Freewater Institute of Pastoral Studies after a week long visit with Elder Freewater by two NACM Exec. Elders.

–> Chris Cooper, MD (NACM minister) was featured in the Times and Democrat News for his ministry in healthcare.

–> NACM Bruce Paul was appointed Chaplain for the University of Michigan.

–> US News listed the National Association of Christian Ministers as the first source on its list of professional ministerial associations.

–> Theology Degrees Online listed the National Association of Christian Ministers as the 2nd most “must follow” page for Christians.

–> Online Seminary Schools listed the National Association of Christian Ministers as the 2nd most important source for providing leadership training and materials to ministers.

–> Marion University listed the National Association of Christian Ministers as a professional association for ministers.

–> Geneva College lists the National Association of Christian Ministers as a professional association for ministers.

–> Answers.com referenced the National Association of Christian Ministers in defining ordination.

–> NACM minister and author Kynan Bridges was interviewed by Larry Sparks.  He was also featured on Sid Roth.

Our ministerial association was born on March 26th 2009, and here we are today embracing a new decade.  This reality alone is a great testimony of God’s call for ministers of the 21st Century.  That we may proclaim as Paul saying:

“If only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” (Acts 20:24).  “We will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” (Acts 6:4).

“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us…to be reconciled to God.” (1 Cor. 5:20).

For He “has made us competent to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” (2 Cor. 3:6).

  1. Yay!  I'm so excited to see all the new work done to the site.  I love the gamification thing.  I've been reading tons on gamification lately and how powerful it is as a motivation tool.  I feel silly admitting that points and levels motivate me, but they really do!

Seeing the bountiful ministry over the past 10+ years makes my heart swell with joy!  This organization has made all the difference in my personal ministry.  It's given me confidence, fellowship, and encouragement.  It's taught me the difference between church and the Church.  When I start to doubt whether God actually called me to ministry or if I start thinking that I might be completely delusional thinking I can be any sort of effective minister, this organization in some way or another reaffirms that God provides.  In every way we need, God provides.  I think of Ephesians 4:11-16 when I think of NACM:

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.  Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.  Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.  From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

I'm excited and eager to see how God's hand shows up among us in the coming decade!

  2. When you take in all that has happened in 10 years time since the founding of the NACM, you can’t but realize how the Lord is in this work!  And the Vision for what the NACM could yet accomplish in the Lord's will and leading stretches the imagination!

What if this venture is even more than we (I) tend to think?  What if indeed this ordaining, training, sustaining fellowship of ministers of such a variety of backgrounds and Christian experience (though yet united in the one experience of being "in Christ") is an essential part of the movement of the Holy Spirit in this day and time where denominationalism and institutionalization of the Church ("churchianity"?) have settled into a comfort zone and diluted the true, needed Message of new life in Christ!?

It is exciting to see Christians encouraged, no matter what their particular ministry calling – and we see such a wonderful variety of unique callings – to take hold of that vision and new venture in their lives, stepping out of the boat and onto the water – to walk like Jesus into the tempest of the Times.  Let's all continue to pray and trust our Almightly God for GREATER things than we imagined, and in this Last Days see many, many realize Christ as their Source of Life!

  3. Excellent indeed to see the work of the lord in the last decade, and to reiterate part of what Exec Elder Rodger Niemeyer said on 02/06/ 2020 { What if this venture is even more than we (I) tend to think? What if indeed this ordaining, training, sustaining fellowship of ministers of such a variety of backgrounds and Christian experience ( though yet united in the one experience of being “in Christ” ) is an essential part of the movement of the Holy Spirit in this day and time where denominationalism and institutionalization of the Church (“churchianity “?) have settled into a comfort zone and diluted the true, needed Message of New Life in Christ. } Indeed this is something to look at in these last days as the Church is being matured and we finish the age.
